Field expedition on Öresund by boat
Start at the hotel at 12:30. Together with Christopher Häll, Mats Johnsson
Join us on a boat trip along the Malmö coastline and see Malmö from the sea side.
The guide on the trip is a representative from Marine Science Centre in Malmö and will talk about the fantastic transformation happened in Öresund, from a polluted sea in the late 1980s to a beautiful sea with vivid marine wildlife with a lot of cod and and good shallow areas with seagrass. We will on the trip conduct sampling, measure the salinity and try to catch some fish.
The trip takes 3 hours.
You will be picked up by bus at the hotel at 12:30
The boat will depart at 13:00
The boat trip ends at 16:00
Bus will pick you up at 16:00 for transport back to the hotel.
Historical artwalk
Start at the hotel at 12:30. Together with Staffan Hessel
A walk from the Art Hall to the Modern Art Museum through the old parts of Malmö.
We will take the public buss from the hotel at around 12:30 and get off at Triangeln.
In Magistratsparken, a small park, close to Triangeln the Art Hall there will be a Food Truck festival with 20 different trucks that you can buy lunch.
Then we visit the Art Hall. Free Entrance.
After the visit we walk through the old parts Malmö to the Modern Art Museum and see the exhibtions there, Free Entrance
The whole tour will be around 3 kilometers and take about 3 hours including tours in the museums and lunch.
The Modern Art Museum in the center close to the shopping centers and streets and you can choose to stay in the center or go back to the hotel after the tour.
Into the woods
Start at the hotel at 12:10. Together with Carolin Sjölin
Purpose: Ability to walk in the forest mainly with leaf trees. Talk about Swedish “allemansrätten “ and have a look at an old school house wich now is a place for Malmö students to go for excursions.
Relaxing. Hiking.
Time: 12:00 - 15:30 (We’ll go from the hotel at 12:10 and will be back at the hotel at 16:00)
Driving to Bokskogen with cars or a buss if we are plenty of us.
What? A walk in the forest. Choose from a shorter trail of 3 km (your pace) or a longer of 10 km ( 10 km 2,5- 3 h walk with fika /lunch pause, medium tempo)
If you choose the shorter trail there will be time to look in the garden of the Castle.
(even so if you are walking fast on the longer trail)
If you are going to the field trip to the woods right outside the City of Malmö…
You will need:
- A small backpack (to carry fika and maybe a jacket in?)
- Shoes for a long walk (Sneakers or hiking boots)
- A Thermos to put coffee in (for the traditional fika in the woods) - or share with a friend.
- Something to sit on (a blanket or etc.)
- A bottle of water
- Clothes for rainy weather if the sun doesn’t shine
The limestone quarry
Start at the hotel at 11:45. Together with Pär Blondell
” We start at the hotel 11:45 where we will pick you up for a 15 minute drive to the gate of the quarry. Our guide, Håkan Hjerberg, will meet us there. The walk in the quarry will start at 12:30 and last for two hours. The guide speaks English.
In the quarry we will meet a lot of different birds typical for limestone environment. The area is restricted and can only be visited with guides. Please wear clothes and shoes that can stand bad weather. We will be back at the hotel at 15:00. This tour is appropriate for 12 persons. Warm welcome to a rare place!”
A historical tour in the outskirts of Malmö in Oxie
Start at the hotel at 12:30. Together with Annie Bergh
Today Oxie is a small suburb of Malmö but this tour will take you around for a tour where you will experience what happened in the area long before Malmö even existed. This is when Oxie district was in a way both bigger and more important than Malmö, which then was a fishing village. Visit old mounds, the oldest church in Malmö, another church with an enormous and beautiful altarpiece far bigger and expensive than a church this size ordinarily have. It is an altarpiece worthy of a cathedral. Come and listen to the stories about our past. During the tour you will be having a baguette and water for lunch, this is on us.
Good walking shoes and clothing according to the weather is recommended. We will walk some as well as ride the car from place to place.

12:30: You wlll be picked up at the hotel by car.
15:00: You will go back to the hotel by car and you have some time to shop before getting ready for our dinner at Turning Torso. If you wish I can let you off somewhere downtown to go shopping or just take a walk around the city center.
16:45: Buses pick up at hotel to go to Turning Torso.

There will be a fee for this tour at the amount from 25 euro to 35 euro depending on the choices made by the tour guide. The tour finish at Turning Torso, in time for dinner.
